  1. Mac Profiler is a personal version of Technology Works' GraceLAN Network Management software.  Feel free to pass Mac Profiler on to a friend, and think of Technology Works whenever you're considering new Memory Upgrades, Cache Cards, Ethernet cards, and Networking Software products.

  5. How To Use Mac Profiler

  8. Mac Profiler is a software diagnostic tool designed to give you a quick and easy view of the complete software and hardware configuration of any Macintosh. To install and/or run Mac Profiler follow these steps:

  10. 1.)  Insert the diskette into the disk drive.
  11.  
  12. 2.)  Double-click on the disk icon.
  13.  
  14. 3.)  (Optional) Drag the Mac Profiler program icon to your hard drive icon to copy.
  15.  
  16. 4.)  Double-click on the Mac Profiler icon. The profile window will open showing you a view of all software you have installed on your Macintosh, any peripherals you have attached, and any additional memory cards or NuBus cards, and much more information.  Scroll through the window and fields to find the information you want.

To save a copy of the profile on disk, choose "Export" from the File menu and type in the file name you would like.  The profile will be saved in a text file that can be opened with TeachText or any word processor.  Additionally, you may choose "Copy" from the Edit menu to place the text of the profile in the Clipboard, which you can then paste into other programs.

The lists of INITs/CDEVs and list of Applications both have some entries with symbols in front of their names.  In the INIT/CDEV list, the • symbol means that an init is NOT turned off with an init manager such as InitPicker or Aask.  In the Applications list, the ◊ means that there are duplicate copies of the same application on your hard disk.

  28. Version 1.1 now correctly reports the applications, current applications, and desk accessories under System 7.0.  In addition, a bug in the export has been fixed.
